Appointments
Morning Access System
Surgery doors and telephone access is from 8:30 am.
On the day appointments are triaged and you may be navigated to a more appropriate service depending on your symptoms. We are able to book appointments with Enhanced Access at Miriam Medical Centre where there are GPS, Paramedics, Nurse Practitioners as well as respiratory clinicians.
We also have pre-bookable appointments available routinely with GPs, ANPs and other health care professionals.
Telephone Appointments
You may be given a time to ring back or a time when the doctor or nurse will ring you, but the practice fully understands that in some circumstances a patient may need to speak to a doctor or nurse without visiting the surgery.
Many medical problems can be dealt with over the telephone without the requirement for a face to face appointment. The doctors can offer telephone advice. We have telephone appointments slots whereby the doctor will ring you regarding a recent result or following a hospital discharge. You will be contacted by a member of staff to advise you that the doctor will be contacting you.
Conditions that can be managed by phone would include urinary infections and general health advice. When you telephone for an appointment you may be asked to provide some details of your condition. This will help our reception staff to direct you to the most appropriate member of our team. We appreciate that there will be occasions when you may not feel comfortable providing such information and we would respect your privacy in such instances.
If you require telephone advice please phone in the morning if possible as the duty doctor is very often busy consulting in the afternoon.
Cancellations
If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else.
